Ordering & Sizing

  • Not at this time. All Bowhead wheelchairs are sold directly through us to ensure quality and personalized support.

  • The Era is ideal for users who can self-propel and those looking for a portable, easy-to-transport daily wheelchair. It’s an excellent option for individuals requiring long-term wheelchair use (10+ years) and who want to be able to change components or assemblies as their lifestyle evolves without having to replace their entire chair.  

  • We recommend consulting with a Bowhead representative and/or your Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Healthcare professional to see if the Era is the right fit for you.

  • The average wait time is 2-6 months but lead times vary depending on demand and customization options. Please contact us directly for the most up-to-date delivery estimates.

Thanks to the chair’s adjustability, you’ll be able to fine tune the fit even after delivery. Replacement parts are quick and easy to order and install, allowing for maximum adjustability as your needs and lifestyle change - built for you, built for life.

  • The starting price is $10,999 CAD ($7999 USD). Price may vary depending on selected accessories and options.

  • We currently ship to Canada and the United States. International availability is coming soon—we’re actively working on expanding to more countries.

Maintenance & Care

  • Regular maintenance includes but is not limited to periodically checking that all bolts are properly torqued, monitoring tire pressure, and cleaning and inspecting the frame. It’s also important to check the caster and wheel bearings for unusual sounds or roughness, and service them if necessary.

  • Contact service@bowheadcorp.com, consult a certified wheelchair technician, or check for local repair services or community programs.  

    All components of the Era can be easily replaced if damaged, allowing you to continuously maintain and repair your chair over time rather than purchasing a whole new chair.

  • With proper care, the Era is designed to last 10+ years. Its modular design allows for the replacement of worn parts without needing to replace the entire chair so you can have one chair for many years to come.

  • The Era is currently compatible with SmartDrive. We will be compatible with more power assist options shortly. 

  • Yes, third-party backrests are supported as long as they match the correct width specification for your chair. Please see our sizing chart here (add sizing chart to website and insert link to sizing chart)

  • The caster fork has a unique attachment and, therefore, can only support Bowhead supplied casters. 

  • The Era currently supports the Bowhead 559 Carbon Fibre rear wheels and the Spinergy Wire wheels. Options for 27.5”, 24”, and 24” off-road wheels will be available soon.

  • We currently offer the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tire and tube, and the Schwalbe Pro One tire and tube.

Warranty & Support

  • We currently have a limited lifetime warranty on the frame and carbon components. Aluminum and metal components are covered by a 5-year warranty. Warranty subject to change.

Reimbursement & Funding

  • Bowhead is FDA cleared, and Health Canada approved, making the Era eligible for coverage under many insurance plans. Coverage varies by insurance provider, so please check with your insurance company for more details. We do not do direct billing.  

  • Yes, the Era is available for direct purchase if you do not have insurance coverage.

  • We are not currently covered by ADP.

  • Yes. Bowhead is approved for funding through Veterans Affairs. Check with your local VA to confirm registration. If Bowhead isn’t registered in your area, please contact us and we’ll assist you with the registration process

  • There are a few funding opportunities available that individuals may apply for to help with the purchase of a Bowhead Era. Eligibility requirements vary depending on the specific organization.

Setup & Assembly

  • Once your Era arrives, you can fine-tune the fit using its built-in adjustability features. If needed, you can book a free virtual fitting call with a Bowhead rep to walk through the adjustments together. If you have a clinician (e.g., OT or PT), they can also help fine-tune your setup for optimal comfort and performance.

  • Minimal setup is required. Please refer to the 1-page setup guide included in your box upon delivery. Some user specific adjustments may be necessary to achieve the perfect fit.

  • Yes! We offer free fitting calls. You can book a call with a Bowhead specialist to walk through the adjustments and ensure everything is dialed in correctly.

  • The Era is the first of its kind, offering adjustability wherever you need it. The Era is designed to grow and change with your body throughout your life while also featuring a minimalist and unique “frameless” design with aesthetics unlike anything else on the market. This allows you to have a perfectly fitting wheelchair throughout many years of your life.

    The chair’s ability to easily break down into four smaller components allows for easier travel and transportation.

    Our frame design and torsion bar suspension system help reduce harmful vibrations and absorb shocks that may otherwise be transmitted to your body.

  • The Era is primarily made up of pure carbon fiber composite, but uses some aluminum, titanium and high-strength steel.

  • The Bowhead Era weighs approximately 9kg (20lbs) with the rear wheels. This weight may vary depending on the accessories and backrest selected.

    The transfer weight of the Bowhead Era is 3.5kg (7.7lbs)

  • The weight limit is currently 109 kg (240 lbs).

  • The Torsion bar is a titanium rod that provides a unique suspension system, offering more comfort and reducing the health risks associated with vibration and shocks without compromising the weight of your wheelchair. The torsion bar is available in firm or soft options for user preference.
